Which car brand has the most service centres in India? Workshop networks of 11 brands compared
Updated 22 October 2026 · CarsPlusBikes
Before you buy a car, it is worth asking a question most showrooms never raise: where will it be serviced? A car spends the next ten years going back to an authorised workshop once a year, sometimes more, for oil changes, brake work, warranty repairs and recalls. A brand with a workshop in your town makes that easy; a brand whose nearest workshop is two hours away turns every service into a day off work.
We counted every authorised service workshop of 11 car brands in India, placed each one on a map, and compared the networks state by state and city by city. This guide explains what we found, which brands are strong where, where the gaps are, and how to check the workshops near you before you buy.
How we counted
- A workshop is an outlet that services cars. Many dealers run a showroom and a workshop at the same address, others keep the workshop on a separate site, and some showrooms have no workshop at all. Showroom-only outlets are not counted as workshops.
- Each listed workshop counts once. Where a brand lists the same site twice (once as a showroom, once as a workshop) we merged the two. Two separate workshops of the same dealer in one city count as two.
- Every workshop sits in a state and a city. We used each outlet's PIN code and map position to place it in one of India's 36 states and union territories. Large cities count as one city (all of Delhi is "Delhi", all of Bengaluru is "Bengaluru"), so a "city" in the tables below can hold many workshops.
- The counts are from October 2026. Networks change every month as dealers open, move and close, so treat the numbers as a snapshot. Each brand's map shows the date its list was last checked.

October 2026. Cities: cities and towns with at least one workshop. In six metros: share of the brand's workshops in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Maruti Suzuki counts ARENA and NEXA service workshops together.
Service workshops in India, October 2026 (Maruti Suzuki, with 7,169, is left out so the others stay readable)
Three groups stand out. Maruti Suzuki is in a league of its own, with more than ten times as many workshops as any other brand we mapped. Toyota and Kia form a second tier with roughly 500 to 600 workshops each, enough to reach most district towns in the larger states. Everyone else, from Honda's 273 down to BMW's 48, has a network that is strong in the big cities and the richer states but thin or absent in large parts of the country.
Maruti Suzuki: a workshop in 2,620 cities and towns
Maruti Suzuki's 7,169 service workshops are spread across 2,620 cities and towns and every state and union territory except Lakshadweep. Only 9% of them are in the six largest metros: the network is built for small towns as much as for big cities. Uttar Pradesh alone has 733 Maruti Suzuki workshops, Maharashtra 716, Tamil Nadu 558, Kerala 498 and Gujarat 497. In Delhi there are 177, and the brand has workshops in places where no other brand we mapped has one at all, such as Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (8) and Ladakh (4).
The count includes both of Maruti Suzuki's sales channels: ARENA workshops (6,532) and NEXA workshops (637). Our Maruti Suzuki service centres map lets you switch between all workshops, ARENA only and NEXA only.
Toyota and Kia: the second tier
Toyota has 597 workshops in 424 cities and 34 states and union territories; it is missing only in Lakshadweep and in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, and it is one of only two brands we mapped with a workshop in Ladakh. Its strongest states are Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu (62 each), Uttar Pradesh (53), Karnataka (44) and Gujarat (41). Kerala has 37 Toyota workshops, far more than most brands manage there.
Kia has 492 workshops in 330 cities and 33 states and union territories. It is strongest in Maharashtra (54), Uttar Pradesh (52), Karnataka (43) and Gujarat (42), and its biggest city networks are Bengaluru (19), Delhi (14) and Hyderabad (13). Kia also lists many showrooms that do not service cars: of its 819 outlets, 492 are workshops.
The mid-size networks: Honda, MG, Renault, Škoda, Volkswagen, Nissan and Citroën
These brands each have between 90 and 273 workshops. That is enough to cover every big city, but coverage drops quickly outside the larger states:
- Honda (273 workshops, 29 states and UTs): strongest in Maharashtra (27), Kerala (26), Tamil Nadu (25) and Gujarat (24); Delhi has 13.
- MG (260, 29): Maharashtra (25), Gujarat (24), Uttar Pradesh (23) and Karnataka (20).
- Renault (241, 30): Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh (27 each) and Karnataka (22). Only 9% of its workshops are in the six largest metros, the same share as Maruti Suzuki: Renault's network leans towards smaller towns.
- Škoda (190, 28): Maharashtra (23), Tamil Nadu (20) and Gujarat (19).
- Volkswagen (140, 24): Karnataka and Tamil Nadu (18 each), Maharashtra (17) and Kerala (15). Delhi has just one Volkswagen workshop.
- Nissan (129, 28): Tamil Nadu (13), and 10 each in Kerala, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
- Citroën (90, 25): Maharashtra (10), Tamil Nadu (9) and Uttar Pradesh (8).
BMW: concentrated in the big cities
BMW has 48 workshops in 40 cities and 22 states and union territories. 29% of them are in the six largest metros, by far the highest share of the brands we mapped. That makes sense for a luxury brand, but it also means that BMW owners outside the big cities often have a long drive to a workshop: there is none in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh or most of the north-east.
State by state
The table below shows the number of workshops for the eight largest networks in selected states, from the biggest to the most remote. Use the maps linked at the end for every state and every brand.

Service workshops, October 2026. Delhi is the National Capital Territory only; Gurugram and Faridabad are counted in Haryana, Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
A few things are worth noticing. Delhi looks thin for some brands (Toyota 8, Volkswagen 1), but many of their workshops sit just across the border in Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad, which the table counts in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Kerala punches above its weight: Honda, Toyota and Volkswagen all have more workshops there than in much larger states. And Punjab is a Toyota stronghold, with 31 workshops against 16 for Kia and 3 for Renault and Škoda.
The north-east, the hills and the islands
The gaps are biggest in the north-east, the Himalayan states and the island territories:
- Assam is well served by Maruti Suzuki (224 workshops), Toyota (12) and Kia (10), but has only one Volkswagen workshop.
- Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have one or two workshops of most brands, and none for several. Maruti Suzuki is the only brand with more than two workshops in any of them.
- Sikkim has two Maruti Suzuki workshops and one each of Toyota, Kia, MG and Renault.
- Ladakh has four Maruti Suzuki workshops and one Toyota workshop; no other brand we mapped has one.
- Lakshadweep has no workshop of any of the 11 brands. Andaman and Nicobar has two Maruti Suzuki workshops and one each of Toyota, Kia, Honda, MG, Renault and Nissan.
If you live in one of these states, check the nearest workshop before you choose a brand. A car that has to be driven to another state for every service costs more to own than its service bill suggests, and warranty repairs take longer.
What a bigger network means for you
- Shorter trips and less time off work. The nearer the workshop, the easier it is to service on time, which matters for the warranty.
- Pick-up and drop. Many dealers collect the car from home, but usually only within a set distance of the workshop.
- Breakdowns and accident repairs. A dense network means a tow to an authorised workshop is shorter, and body and paint repairs are more likely to be done nearby.
- Choice and competition. In a city with several workshops of your brand you can compare quotes, waiting times and reviews, and move to another workshop if you are unhappy.
- Resale. Buyers of used cars in small towns favour brands they can get serviced locally.
How to check the workshops near you
- Open the service centres map of the brand you are considering (links below).
- Use Where is my nearest workshop? with your location or your city. Distances are straight-line, so allow more on the road.
- Click your state to see every workshop with its address and a Directions link, and check whether the workshop is in your town or the next one.
- Compare two or three brands the same way before you decide.
Frequently asked questions
Which car brand has the most service centres in India?
Maruti Suzuki, by a wide margin: 7,169 service workshops in 2,620 cities and towns in October 2026, more than ten times any other brand we mapped. Toyota (597) and Kia (492) come next.
Which brand has the widest coverage across states?
Maruti Suzuki has a workshop in 35 of India's 36 states and union territories (all except Lakshadweep). Toyota covers 34 and Kia 33.
Is a bigger network always better?
Not on its own. What matters is the distance from your home to the nearest workshop and the quality of that workshop. A smaller brand with a good workshop in your town can be easier to live with than a big brand whose nearest workshop is far away.
How many service centres does Toyota have in India?
597 service workshops in 424 cities across 34 states and union territories, in October 2026.
How many service centres does Kia have in India?
492 service workshops in 330 cities across 33 states and union territories. Kia lists 819 outlets in total, but the rest are showrooms that do not service cars.
How many service centres do Honda, MG and Renault have?
Honda has 273 workshops, MG 260 and Renault 241, each covering 29 or 30 states and union territories.
How many service centres do Škoda and Volkswagen have?
Škoda has 190 workshops in 28 states and union territories; Volkswagen has 140 in 24.
How many BMW service centres are there in India?
48 workshops in 40 cities and 22 states and union territories, with 29% of them in the six largest metros.
Does every showroom have a service centre?
No. Some showrooms only sell cars. Our maps separate workshops from showroom-only outlets; switch to all outlets to see both.
My state has no workshop of the brand I want. What can I do?
Click your state on that brand's map: the panel shows the nearest workshop in a neighbouring state and the straight-line distance. Ask the dealer whether they offer pick-up from your town, and factor the travel into your decision.
Why does Delhi have so few workshops for some brands?
Many workshops serving Delhi are just across the border in Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad, which are in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Use the nearest-workshop finder on the map rather than the state count.
Can I get my car serviced at any authorised workshop of the brand?
Generally yes: authorised workshops of a brand follow the same service schedule, and you can choose the one that suits you. Ask the workshop to stamp or record the service so your warranty history stays complete.
Are Hyundai, Tata and Mahindra included?
Not in this comparison. It covers the 11 brands whose complete workshop lists are on our maps.
How often are these numbers updated?
The counts are a snapshot from October 2026. Each brand's map shows when its list was last checked.
Are the distances on the maps road distances?
No, they are straight-line distances. Use the Directions link on each workshop for the road route.
